octOn 17th October, a court session was held concerning Russia’s extradition request. Ablyazov was accompanied to the Court by a police escort, comprising four cars and four motorcycles and two helicopters.

octGarry Kasparov, former world chess champion, will held in Paris on Thursday 16th of October, a press conference. The day after, he will be at the Court of Appeal of Lyon, as a defense witness at the hearing where judges will consider the request by Russia to extradite Mukhtar Ablyazov.

In December 2016 Mukhtar Ablyazov’s extradition was refused, he was released from prison and granted a political refugee status in September 2020. Earlier, a number of his relatives and associates had been given international protection in various European countries. Thus, continuing to campaign for human rights in Kazakhstan and the rights of political refugees amongst them, we consider our mission largely fulfilled.
